Our Impact

Reducing Barriers to Global Growth

At the Black History and Lifestyle Award (BHLA), we believe that economic empowerment is the cornerstone of sustainable growth and innovation within the Black community. Our commitment extends beyond recognition to actively facilitating access for Black-owned Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to international markets. By connecting businesses to global networks and resources, BHLA bridges gaps in opportunities and accelerates the integration of Black enterprises into the global value chain.

The globalization of business presents significant opportunities for Black-owned SMEs, especially those in industries with high growth potential, to engage in cross-border activities such as trade, investment and strategic partnerships. However, SMEs face persistent barriers including limited access to funding, regulatory challenges and insufficient inclusion in major international supply chains. BHLA actively works to address these challenges through strategic initiatives.

Partnerships That Drive Change

  • Access to Critical Information

Provide SMEs with the resources they need to operate confidently in global markets. This includes insights into tax regulations, advisory services, compliance requirements and dispute resolution

  • Fostering Public-Private Partnerships

Drive initiatives that promote public-private partnerships to help SMEs penetrate global markets. This includes creating platforms for innovative product collaborations and linking SMEs with foreign technologies, advanced knowledge systems and complementary global networks
